Overhead water tank kills 5 school children

Tragedy struck on Tuesday at Agbor, Delta State, at noon  when an overhead water tank collapsed on a classroom in a model primary school, leading to the death of five pupils of the school.
Over 15 others who were seriously injured were admitted to the emergency unit of the Central Hospital, Agbor.
An eyewitness account said the children, who were pupils of College of Education Model School, were in the class studying when the tank gave way and fell on them.
The account said the tank, erected beside the classroom, suddenly collapsed after a violent wind and fell heavily on the children in the class.
There was stampede and wailing in the school as parents besieged the premises in search of their children, while at the hospital, scores of persons wanted to know the victims of the incident.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Charles Muka, confirmed the story but said the cause of the mishap was yet to be established by the police.
Meanwhile, 74 of the 92 suspected cultists arrested at Issele-Mkpitime, Asaba and Abraka recently have been charged to court for belonging to unlawful societies.
Mr. Muka said on Tuesday that investigation into other cases of cult-related activities was in progress.
