Alleged misappropriation: Forum calls for Benue SWC’s dissolution

THE Forum of Chapel Chairmen and Secretaries of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Benue State Council has recommended the immediate dissolution of the State Working Committee (SWC), on allegations of misappropriation of the council funds.
A report released and signed by 11 chapels out of 15 chapels, a copy which was also made available to the Nigerian Tribune further recommended the setting up of a credential committee for the conduct of fresh elections.
The chapel chairmen and secretaries alleged financial recklessness and corrupt practices by the leadership of the council, regretting the arbitrary sharing of money, paying of money without receipts, records or signed documents as well as falsified contract execution.
“It was established during our investigation that there is dishonesty, distrust, selfishness amongst elected members of the State Working Committee who are out to defraud the union over N3.2million was spent on projects without due process and any committee in place”, the report noted.
