COSSEN boss advises FG to scrap NAPEP

COSSEN boss advises FG to scrap NAPEP

The National President of the Concerned Organisation for Small Scale Enterprises of Nigeria (COSSEN), Dr Albert Akinyemi, has advised the Federal Government to scrap National Poverty Eradication Programme (NAPEP) because it no longer serves its purpose.
“The programme, which had billions of naira sunk into it, has been said not to have impacted on the Nigerian masses for which it was established. So, it is better to have it scrapped off, or better still merged with the Bank of Industry,” he said.
Speaking during a visit to the African Newspapers of Nigeria (ANN Plc), on Thursday, Dr Akinyemi, who led the delegation of officers from across the South-West on the visit, stated that Nigeria could not achieve success  in implementing  policies because it lacked database which should be used as a veritable tool for the implementation of programmes successfully.
Dr Akinyemi urged the Federal Government to cooperate with COSSEN to improve on the Small Medium Enterprise like the developed countries of the world so that it would improve its economy and the lives of the people in the country.
