Work to begin on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway soon -Babalakin

Construction work will soon commence on the Lagos-Ibadan Express- way, the chairman  of Bi-Courtney Highway Services Limited, Dr Wale Babalakin, the company to manage the road, has disclosed.
Answering questions from newsmen in Osogbo, on Thursday, after a lecture organised  in honour of his father, Justice Bola Babalakin, by the Osogbo branch of the  Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Dr Babalakin said that all the initial preliminary  works on the project had been completed, adding that construction work on the  road would begin in the next two weeks.
According to him, “the Federal Ministry of Works, only a few weeks ago, announced  to the public that very soon works on Lagos-Ibadan expressroad will commence.”
He added: “All the paper works on the project are virtually completed and I want  to give personal assurance that any moment from now, I mean within the next two  weeks, work will commence”.
He said that compensation for those whose properties might be affected by  the construction would be paid, adding that “all those who are lawfully affected  on the road will be adequately compensated”.
He said that all the stakeholders involved in the construction and rehabilitation of the road, particularly the transporters had been cooperating  with the company.
“We have been working together with the transporters, the NURTW the RTEAN and  others for the past one and a half years and that is why you can go freely  through Ogere,” he said.
